Construct

The Construct phase focuses on building the necessary infrastructure, policies, and professional development programs that will support effective AI integration. It involves formalizing what is already working in the community, setting clear goals, and addressing known risks through intentional pilot projects. This is where the groundwork is laid for future AI initiatives and includes formalizing successes from the Engage phase and addressing known risks. This stage also emphasizes building collaborative networks – connecting educators, families, and community partners so that successful practices spread more quickly.

EXAMPLES OF WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE:

  • Infrastructure and Policy Development: Upgrade network systems, secure data privacy protocols, and adapt existing technology policies to address AI integration.
  • Professional Development Initiatives: Launch foundational professional learning programs and microcredential courses that introduce educators to AI tools and ethical practices.
  • Community Engagement Events: Host structured events (such as parent and teacher workshops) to review pilot results and refine AI strategies.
  • Pilot Projects:Expand on successful teacher-led pilots with controlled, district-wide implementation in select classrooms.

OUTCOMES FOR THE PHASE:

  • Short- and long-term plans are in place to strengthen system infrastructure and align local policies and procedures to support AI innovation.
  • A robust technological and policy infrastructure that supports AI tools is launched.
  • A data system plan—including fidelity measures and evaluation criteria—has been developed and is ready for deployment.
  • Increased teacher competency and confidence in using AI evaluated by teacher surveys.
  • Greater alignment between AI initiatives and the district’s educational objectives.
